Ann English is the Program Design, Management, and Operations lead for the CSH Speak Up! Initiative in Los Angeles. Launched in 2013, Speak Up! is designed to empower individuals impacted by homelessness to challenge a dominant narrative that misrepresents and stigmatizes their experiences. Speak Up! Supports participants to shift this narrative by telling their own stories of housing and its fundamental connection to their capacity to thrive. Participants in the Speak Up! Program not only advocate with Local, State, and Federal Policy Makers, they also secure leadership positions within the community. Speak Up! Advocates have been appointed to Governing Boards of Non-profits with no previous lived experience representation and they are regularly invited to educational and community events for a variety of stakeholders.
Ann has been developing and leading innovative programs for over two decades in the Los Angeles Homeless Services Sector for many of the largest providers of Supportive Housing.
She believes strongly in the impact of storytelling for personal transformation and community change.
